Night Forest
Acrylic paint on paper with pallet knife.
After working just in black and white for several years, I have gradually been integrating color into my paintings. Watercolor at first with very soft plein-air colors to colored inks used very high key. I have also been working on methods of painting as well.

Clark Fork River bottom
In 2002 I was granted a Fulbright memorial fellowship to study the art and culture of Japan. I became very interested in sumi-e and the images and ways of working that produced such interesting "value" studies. Since that time, I have continued to work with sumi ink and images that represent my Montana. But, as you will see, I have also been working in and expermenting with color and color media.
