2009 The Year of the Earth Ox
Happy new year to all! I have made an image for lunar new year every year since returning from Japan. The twist on this year's image was using a buffalo (american bison) as the earth ox. Enjoy the new year! House paint on cold press illustration board 14 x 22".

Sunday in the Park #1
These are from an ongoing series of work about Glacier National Park, near where I live. All are house paint on post consumer paper or cardboard.
Sunday in the Park #2
House paint on Cardboard. This is the top panel of a shipping crate for a freezer. It frames the work nicely.
Sunday in the Park #4
House paint on brown paper bag. Interesting item, I "built" my color scheme from studing Australian Aboriginy bark paintings and Figi "tapa" cloth, both of which use natural colors.

Jared's Chair
After working for most of a year in a limited pallet of colors (almost monochromatic) I have just recently returned to the hardware store and selected a broader range of colors. I continue to work from self-created photos, which I then print in black and white. From these I decide what color to use where. I try not to be too predictable, but at the same time believable. these 6 works are from an on-going series of my home town, Thompson Falls, Montana. I now start a new series on Glacier Park, in color, and monochromatic.

Tractor #1
Just outside of town, the Normandeau Ranch is where old trucks and tractors go, not to die, but to be reborn. That makes it a great place to find images for painting. I really don't know the brands or ages of these machines, I just know they present interesting subjects. This is house paint on brown paper bag.
Chevy truck
One of the largest yard planters I've ever seen, this truck is full of flowers in the summer, good work for an old rig. House paint on brown paper bag, 18" x 24".
Old Mac truck
This truck has been put back together from 3 or 4 old wrecks and works for a living again. House paint on paper bag.
